Why Have Garden Lights?
The long, sunny days of summer are ideal times for outdoor activities. The only problem is sometimes they get too sunny, making it unbearably hot outside. On these days, the most enjoyable part of the day is after dusk, when you get a reprieve from the heat and can go outside and fire up the barbeque, take a walk, or just enjoy a nice book outside. But what happens when darkness falls and there’s no full moon to light up the night? This is when it’s great to have LED landscape lighting installed on your property.
Landscape lighting does more than just give you another place to enjoy the night after a hot summer day. It also beautifies your house, adding to your house’s street appeal and property value. Designing your property lights can even be a form of art. You can decide how you want the shadows to play off each other, balancing amounts of light and darkness. Big trees on your property are particularly great for lighting. You can cast uplights into the branches to give them an almost majestic appeal or apply lots of backlighting to them, creating ominous shadows that fall on different areas of your garden and that make faces on tree bark that seems innocuous during the day. The possibilities are limitless with the different types of lights and light fixtures out on the market today.
Garden lights also add safety and security to your home. If given a choice, burglars will always choose an easier target to prey on. Adding motion sensor lights to your house not only makes it easier when you go to put out the dog at night, but also makes a burglar trying to break into your home more conspicuous. While this isn’t a full-proof way to keep your home safe, it is a good first line of defense.
