Heating Your Swimming Pool For Less

Swimming pools are a great thing to have in your backyard. It’s a center piece that brings your family and friend together. Everyone loves to swim, but nobody likes to swim when the water is too cold.

Sometimes during the summer months or early spring and late fall, your swimming pool can become cold and harder to swim in. This could be due to the weather or just your backyard in general. Maybe your have trees blocking your pool or your house is. Which ever the case, most people tend to invest in a  pool heater or pool heat pumps. While these are highly effective ways of heating your backyard pool, they are certainly not the cheapest or most inexpensive.

That’s why we turn to the power of the sun to heat our pool. Depending on the size, if you invest a$100 or over you can have yourself a very cost effective way to heat your swimming pool with solar pool covers. A solar pool cover is a light weight bubble wrap- like cover that spreads over the top of your pool and floats on top of the water.

This cover works two ways to heat. First the darker color of the cover itself helps to attract sunlight to your pool, heating the water beneath. The other way it works is when your pool gains all this new warmth, usually at night when it’s cooler that heat escapes. By keeping your solar cover on during the night, this helps your  pool retain the heat that it has collected throughout the day.

So instead of buying a pool heater, which can be expensive and not to mention the high gas bill, invest in a solar pool cover this summer to heat your pool the eco friendly way.
