8,400 ideas is a lot — so we made it browsable.

Every plan in the Verdant Studio library was photographed on a finished yard and rebuilt by a homeowner somewhere. Nothing is a render. Nothing is a stock garden. The library spans forty-two style families — Modern Minimal to Mediterranean, Xeriscape to Japanese Tea Garden, Edible Front Yard to Native Pollinator — and every entry is tagged with the three things that decide whether a plan will actually work at your address: the USDA Hardiness Zone it thrives in, the budget band it was built within, and the hours of upkeep it asks of you each month.

The grading system

Every idea, graded four ways.

A photograph of a beautiful yard is the easy part. The hard part is knowing whether it will survive your winters, fit your budget, and survive the amount of time you actually have to tend it. Verdant Studio assigns every plan four grades — visible on every card, every Build Sheet, every plant tag.

    USDA Hardiness Zone

    Each plant in the design is checked against its USDA Zone range. A Zone 5 garden is never shown to a Zone 9 reader, and vice versa. Our plant database covers 4,700+ species with regional substitutes for Zones 3 through 10.

    Budget tier

    Every plan sits in one of four bands — $5K, $15K, $40K, or $75K+ — based on the median self-reported cost from readers who actually built it. No aspirational photos with a $2K reality hidden in the caption.

    Sun exposure

    A yard's light is non-negotiable. Every idea is graded full sun, part shade, or full shade based on the conditions it was photographed in — so you never fall in love with a sun-loving rose for a north-facing bed.

    Maintenance effort

    Measured in honest hours per week, not vibes. A 'low effort' tag means under one hour. A 'high effort' tag assumes a gardener on call. We don't sell weekend fantasy — we sell what your calendar will bear.
